Finland Government Initiatives TEKES - promotes the technological competitiveness of Finnish industry and the service sector. Coordinates various programmes: FinNano - launched in January 2005 for five years with a budget of 45 million euros, including 25 million euros for research funding, and 20 million euros for corporate financing. Technology programmes - launched in areas vital to the future of Finnish industry. Selective project funding - targeted at projects which produce new knowledge and will yield high technological and commercial results. Development of the innovation environment - innovation services are developed and provided in cooperation with other financiers and expert organisations.
Private and Public Organisations Innovation Relay Centre (IRC) Finland - maintains the Tekes Technology Market Place which includes international technology offers and requests. Spinverse Consulting - specialises in early stage technology commercialisation. The main focus is towards innovative SMEs as well as governmental institutions. HelsinkiNano - launched in 2004 with the aim of making the Helsinki region the centre of nanotechnology research in Finland. The Centre of Expertise for Adaptive Materials and Microsystems - a commercialisation and service centre for Microsystems Technology (MST) which is based in Espoo. Also provides the IRC Microtechnology. The EVTEK training and test factory - a new factory-type environment for training, research and development in electronics and microsystems manufacturing. Technopolis Ventures Ltd - the largest business incubator in Finland, with upwards of 200 hi-tech and knowledge-based companies in its programme. Incorporates the Vantaa Hitech Programme, which aims at developing competence in five hitech sectors. Tampere University of Technology - operates in constant cooperation with the business world.

Nanotechnology in Northern Europe Congress and Exhibition - annual event that attracts several hundred experts, scientists, entrepreneurs and investors to Helsinki to share their views on latest research and commercial development of nanotechnology.
