Abstract: The European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies (EGE) is preparing an opinion on the ethics of synthetic biology, to be submitted to the Commission by October 2009. As part of its preparatory work, the EGE held an open round-table debate on the issues raised by synthetic biology. The round table was organised by the Bureau of European Policy Advisers (BEPA).
